Project Goals:
My goals for this project were to finish my steer at around 1400 lbs, place in the top three at Achievement Day, and have a fun and positive experience showing my calf.
Feeding Program:
I fed my steer a grain ration made up mostly of barley and corn. Feed was adjusted as needed to support proper growth and condition, and fresh water was provided at all times.
Growth and Development:
My steer has been gaining an average of 2.7 lbs per day and is in great condition. He has been growing well and meeting my weight and condition goals.
Show Preparation:
We washed and clipped my steer at home to prepare him for pre Achievement Day. I practiced leading him down the driveway a few times each week to improve his behavior and my showmanship.
